Representative Anthony Weiner - Twitter Scandal

Final Update?

Representative Anthony Weiner resigned. He will seek treatment and we'll hear more from him in the future. Maybe not a final update...

Representative Anthony Weiner admitted today (June 6, 2011) that those pictures were in fact his and he was very sorry and he is not stepping down.  Nancy Pelosi has called for an investigation to make sure no House rules were violated.  End of Update on this front.

The news of "those are my photos" were largely met by Democrats with a *Yawn* *So what?* and *No big Whoop* (for those of us from NY).  The fact is that democrats only object to sex scandals when they involve tax payer dollars and hypocrisy.   For instance, when someone like Larry Craig is anti-gay rights but is caught in a bathroom seeking sex with males.

The convenient timing of the photographs and Representative Weiner's tireless campaign to force Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to release financial records and to recuse himself from any hearings on Health Care reform has seemed fishy to all from the beginning.

Breitbart is not a trusted source for anything. What he did to ACORN and Sherrod will not be forgotten or forgiven.

SEX, SEX and more SEX
Democrats object loudly to those who run on "Family Values" like Senator Ensign.  To recap: Ensign is found to be involved in a convoluted sex scandal that involves the woman that works for him and her husband who is his Chief of Staff.  Their 18 year-old son gets a job paid for by the GOP.  Ensign's parents pay off the mistress and husband. Another senator, COLBURN, is found negotiating the pay-offs and covering up Ensigns "escapades".  To make matters worse, we find out that he used his position, power and wealth to force this woman into sex.

Democrats DO NOT like being preached at by those who claim to be holier-than-thou because they are very comfortable with their sexuality, bodies and lives.  Democrats understand that those doing the preaching suffer from arrested development and can only find comfort in sneaking in the shadows to practice their lascivious deeds.  Once they are found out, they fold like a house of cards.

How many mistresses has Newt Gingrich had? How many night stands?
How many mistresses has John Boehner had? So far, we have heard about two women and that is just by scratching the surface.

How many women before Anita Hill did Clarence Thomas screw (literally) out of their careers? How many were terrified to speak up and continue to remain silent?  What do we know about this man who has remained silent through his entire puppet career as a tool for the right wing?

There are a lot more sex scandals that we can talk about, but frankly, what we need to do is keep our eyes on the ball and that ball is JOBS, WORKER'S RIGHTS, WOMEN'S RIGHTS, HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS, EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE and PRISON REFORM.
Those are just starters, we still have our military and the horrific cost of wars in terms of life, disabilities and finances.

We also have the pesky issue of the RYAN's KILL MEDICARE PLAN.
We need to keep our eyes on, and give our support to, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Indiana and all other states that are systematically destroying our rights and our laws and relentlessly eroding the middle-class by creating a new form of slave labor and working poor.

Howard Dean was right folks, even Sarah Palin could win the White House because our recent history indicates that when we are not vigilant and involved, we lose our democracy and rights as it happened in Wisconsin and across the Nation.

This is the update for today and I hope someone understands that these distractions are covering up a multitude of sins that have nothing to do with sex.

Social Security and Government Rant

There is tremendous outrage over Social Security premiums increases.  Forbes likes to call it taxes and has printed an article that has found the hot button of the ignorant focus group they meant to enrage.  I will not post that article here because it is beneath me and you, but suffice it to say that the article hit the right target with the bovines demanding to end Social Security and degrading "OTHERS" they perceive to be beneath them because they "do not take care of themselves and are leaches in society".  They blame those who are not like them, therefore, you got it.... they must be "OTHERS."

There has also been way too much discussion that lacks substance but overflows with unrealistic visions of a world, that if it was done in a very specific way... would be perfect.  Of course, we can't have that world because the damn socialist and "others" have too many rights and have the nerve to speak up.

*Damn these Wisconsin Unions! Damn these Ohio and Michigan citizens with their recalls and voting rights.  Damn you all! we were on such a good track for eight years with Bush and Cheney and you had to wreck it.  Damn you white people who voted for Obama and get along so well with "Others"... DAMN YOU ALL! - you were all supposed to suffer on May 21 and we are all still here.... It must be Obama's fault... yes, he stopped the Rapture! (Oh Crap! he IS THE ONE... )*

To help these folks get a taste of reality I have posted this on the site:
  • If your home town is hit by a hurricane, tornado or other natural disaster, remember the Republican mantra: PULL YOURSELF UP BY YOUR BOOT STRAPS and QUIT YER WHINNING.
  • Do us all a favor and don't waste our tax payer dollars finding your loved ones, your dead ones, your pets or giving you money to rebuild your home or your lives. Frankly that is just TOO SOCIALIST and YOU won't have any part of it.
  • When your time comes to collect SOCIAL SECURITY burn the money. You are no socialist pig and won't degrade your self by helping those bums in their 80's who did not plan for their future the way you did.
  • Also, while you are at it. If you are in a car crash this holiday weekend and become disabled, DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICARE or SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY. It is beneath you. Sell everything you have to take care of you and when that is gone, roll over and die because you'll have no other choice. But you get to die righteous. (and quickly, I fear)
  • Also, until that horrible thing happens, feel free to donate your money to Wall Street and oil companies because they need more and more and more and more....
  • NEVER EVER think of anyone else except yourself. Don't make that mistake. It is too socialist and it is just wrong.
  • Keep blaming Obama for everything, including the hang nail you got last week.
  • Also, you should all build a monument to REAGAN and thank him for his wisdom on the "trickle down economics" because, just like that lottery ticket, it will happen soon.
  • Don't forget to send a thank you card to BUSH & CHENEY for the prosperity you enjoyed over 8 years and send a check to the HERITAGE FOUNDATION because they need your support to bring about the Palin's and Gingrich's of this world.
  • Also, keep your TV on FAUX news 24/7 because you don't need to learn anything new or change your mind about anything you think you know. In fact, you know EVERYTHING, you always have.
  • Remember educated people: USA is #1 at EVERYTHING even if the facts prove otherwise. (but who needs facts?)
  • Oh for good measure: Hate, hate, hate : Gays, Undocumented workers, women's uterus, blacks, Hispanics and the Asians (just because they are smarter and better than anyone else). Keep that fire in your belly... even if it develops into a bleeding ulcer. (you are tough, you can handle it)
  • The main thing is to remember that YOU NEVER give in, YOU ARE NEVER WRONG and anything that benefits society is very, very bad and probably a communist, socialist, Kenyan plot to kill you with kindness.
  • If your sibling, parent or child has a mental or physical impairment that makes it impossible for them to survive on their own, remain tough and DO NOT expect or apply for services that would enable them to function in society and be as productive as their limitations allow.  Remember, only the strong survive and socialized democratic kindness is a weakness. Besides, they never contributed to Social Security or Medicare so they deserve absolutely nothing.
  • We can't have that. Social security is evil because FORBES, THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION, GOP AND FAUX NEWS are never, ever wrong about anything and they have YOUR best interest in mind. No, no, they are not using you. Keep raging against your self... er, I mean, the government. yeah, that's right... evil government.
Care to add something? I'll add it to the list. I would like to keep it going.

ADDED by @ :
  • Veterans with PTSD ought to quit whining about the benefits they aren't getting. And if the wait for services is so long.  (That's okay, because that's just more returning soldiers the country won't have to care for because they kill themselves first.)
  • When unemployment rises to levels like the great depression, people should just suck it up.
  • If you're a woman, don't get pregnant in Texas because you'll be forced to see ultrasound.
  • If you lose your job, don't accept unemployment comp. Just suck it up and deal with it. Unemployment is waaaaay too socialist.

Professor Cornell West And President Obama

Professor Cornell West has made some comments about President Obama that have struck a nerve with many people for a variety of reasons.  Some people believe that President Obama can do no wrong, others see him as a centrist and are disappointed he is not the liberal progressive they dreamed he was.

Others can't wait to tear him down because he is not white enough or black enough.
Others can't give him credit for anything he has accomplished, while others keep putting as many hurdles as they can in front of him so he will fail.  It is personal, it is political and it is a game that has more losers than winners, but it is what it is and it will continue to evolve because that is the nature of the beast.

Cornell West has made me jump out of the sidelines and stand and protect, not President Obama, but an entire segment of the population that has remained silent for far too long.

Professor Cornell West

Professor Cornell West has struck a nerve with me.  He has done what Jeremiah Wright did and frankly, he blindsided me.  I was not expecting this, not from him.  This is a man I have respected for a long time and to a large extent, I still do, but just as he decided to make public a personal relationship he had with President Obama and mix in his political views into a crowded and gnarled ball of yarn, I too, feel the need to get personal because Professor West, has hit me at a very personal level and like me, there are hundreds of thousands if not millions whose stomachs have been tied into a very familiar knot throughout their entire lives.
The following excerpts come form and the text in quotation marks comes straight from the site.  If these are in fact, the accurate words uttered by Professor West, then in fact, we have a problem that needs to be aired out on behalf of those of us who are sick and tired of the double standard.
“I think my dear brother Barack Obama has a certain fear of free black men,” West says. “It’s understandable. As a young brother who grows up in a white context, brilliant African father, he’s always had to fear being a white man with black skin. All he has known culturally is white. He is just as human as I am, but that is his cultural formation. When he meets an independent black brother, it is frightening. And that’s true for a white brother. When you get a white brother who meets a free, independent black man, they got to be mature to really embrace fully what the brother is saying to them. It’s a tension, given the history. It can be overcome. Obama, coming out of Kansas influence, white, loving grandparents, coming out of Hawaii and Indonesia, when he meets these independent black folk who have a history of slavery, Jim Crow, Jane Crow and so on, he is very apprehensive. He has a certain rootlessness, a deracination. It is understandable."
Has a fear of free-black men: This is what white people were afraid of when slavery was abolished.  The fear that free-black men would take to arms and slaughter white people.  Their fears are only more heighten now that a "person of color" has attained the highest office in the land.  This type of rhetoric is fuel to a fire that must be extinguished, not flamed.

Free-black men is code

Why would President Obama be "afraid of free-black men"? this is code for he is not black-enough and leans towards the white heritage that is so rightly his.  It is code for selling out to white people's vision of society. Please do not call him your "dear brother" when you don't see him as one of your brothers even though he lived as a community organizer helping people you would call your brothers and sisters without question.

Brilliant African Father:  Yes, he was brilliant.  So was his mother. No mention of her here, except to insinuate that his white upbringing and white mother make him less of a black person and he must fear both whites and blacks because he is a "white man with black skin"
"He has a certain rootlessness, a deracination. It is understandable." : Right, he does have a certain rootlessness because black and white people have an issue they never talk about in public, let alone admit to.

Those of us with multi-cultural roots have been subjected to not being 'enough' of this or 'enough' of the other by all sides while both sides wanting us to reflect them in words and deeds and rejecting us because we do not resemble either one.  It is a love-hate relationship that puts children of mixed heritage in "no-man's land".

By rejecting us you all made us free.  Freer than you'll ever be.  Through rejection and questioning we disassociate from both and become US. We become Cosmopolitan and world citizens in a quest to understand where we fit in.  As a result, we appreciate and move freely within cultures because we have taken the time to understand and listen.  To appreciate and embrace. To not judge, but to accept.  In short, we are the United Nations and proud of it.

Our president is not unique in his racial background, as a matter of fact, his "mixed-blood" only goes back one generation.  Some of us, go back to days of Haitian revolution and Conquistadors, to Muslims who married Jews and southern whites who fought hard to free slaves because they too, understood the meaning of humanity.
“He feels most comfortable with upper middle-class white and Jewish men who consider themselves very smart, very savvy and very effective in getting what they want,” he says. “He’s got two homes. He has got his family and whatever challenges go on there, and this other home. Larry Summers blows his mind because he’s so smart. He’s got Establishment connections. He’s embracing me. It is this smartness, this truncated brilliance, that titillates and stimulates brother Barack and makes him feel at home. That is very sad for me.
"He's got two homes": He could have twenty, but you are not referring to real estate, you are referring to him not being black enough and your perception that he is more white than black.  You are in fact, calling him "Other".
“This was maybe America’s last chance to fight back against the greed of the Wall Street oligarchs and corporate plutocrats, to generate some serious discussion about public interest and common good that sustains any democratic experiment,” West laments. “We are squeezing out all of the democratic juices we have. The escalation of the class war against the poor and the working class is intense. More and more working people are beaten down. They are world-weary. They are into self-medication. They are turning on each other. They are scapegoating the most vulnerable rather than confronting the most powerful. It is a profoundly human response to panic and catastrophe. I thought Barack Obama could have provided some way out. But he lacks backbone."
"He lacks backbone": The man who hunted down Osama Bin Laden and took on Somali pirates has no backbone?  The man who fought to reform Health care and give people with pre-existing conditions a better quality of life has no backbone?

"More and more working people are beaten down. They are world-weary. They are into self-medication. They are turning on each other.": Yes, we are world-weary and turning against each other because ideologues have driven a wedge into the American psyche that fosters fear and hatred, but that has nothing to do with our president's actions, but the corporatist running every branch of government.

Dr. West, did you think for a minute that ONE person could clean up the government with one hand and send lobbyist and bankers scurrying out of D.C. in the first couple of months?.  Did you think they would not put up a fight to destroy every aspect of government that protects the working poor and middle class?.

You too are weary Dr. West, but not from the previous administration but from generations of watching the poor being forgotten and "people of color" being imprisoned and disenfranchised in society since the beginning.  You too are tired of the crumbs and you are not alone.  We just have to understand that change would have only happened over night if we were all willing to make it happen.
“Can you imagine if Barack Obama had taken office and deliberately educated and taught the American people about the nature of the financial catastrophe and what greed was really taking place?” West asks. “If he had told us what kind of mechanisms of accountability needed to be in place, if he had focused on homeowners rather than investment banks for bailouts and engaged in massive job creation he could have nipped in the bud the right-wing populism of the tea party folk. The tea party folk are right when they say the government is corrupt. It is corrupt. Big business and banks have taken over government and corrupted it in deep ways."
Dr. West, can you imagine if one man alone could do all that? This type of hero or savior only exist in Hollywood movies.  President Obama stated clearly throughout his campaign: "I can't do it alone" and that was meant for us.
We were supposed to elect people he could govern with, we were meant to help him govern and we failed him.  We gave up and blamed him for an economy that was created long before President Obama came into office.  We allowed the fringes of society to put in place ideologues with no real moral compass or a clue of what it is to be a minority of any stripe.  The tea party folks are right about government corruption, but unable or unwilling to see they are the tools of those they want to oust. These folks will  continue to work for them and vote against their own best interests.
“We have got to attempt to tell the truth, and that truth is painful,” he says. “It is a truth that is against the thick lies of the mainstream. In telling that truth we become so maladjusted to the prevailing injustice that the Democratic Party, more and more, is not just milquetoast and spineless, as it was before, but thoroughly complicitous with some of the worst things in the American empire. I don’t think in good conscience I could tell anybody to vote for Obama. If it turns out in the end that we have a crypto-fascist movement and the only thing standing between us and fascism is Barack Obama, then we have to put our foot on the brake. But we’ve got to think seriously of third-party candidates, third formations, third parties."
"We have got to attempt to tell the truth, and that truth is painful,” : Yes, it is.  Racism and fear are not the domain of white people and that is the painful truth.  It has been used by both sides to demean and humiliate children of mixed ethnic backgrounds and never, not once, have I ever heard anyone defending their right to occupy their space or to ask "what is it like NOT to be like me, us, people of only ONE affiliation?" "How can you be so comfortable in your own skin? - - it frightens me, you too, are 'Other'."

"I don’t think in good conscience I could tell anybody to vote for Obama." Is it conscience or resentment that causes you to utter these words?.  It is obvious from the entire interview that political ideology, racial identity and a personal relationship gone bad have influenced much of the content and context of this barrage.

Frankly, Dr. West I could careless if you and President Obama are no longer friends.  We have only heard one side of the story and it has nothing to do with the rest of us.  What I have a problem with is that sick knot in my stomach that is only too familiar to those of mixed parentage, cultures and ethnic backgrounds.

We are not black enough, white enough, Hispanic enough, Asian enough, Christian enough, Catholic enough, Democratic enough or American enough.
When you question whether we are enough or not, we are confused in our youth and offended in our old age.  We respect people of other cultures that defied conventions and risked their lives to love who they loved and raise a family that was strong and questioned authority and social mores.  We come from people with an undeniably strong backbone and broad shoulders.

YES, WE ARE ENOUGH. We are more than enough because we are FREE and no one will ever make us wonder where we fit in anymore, and just like President Obama, we are very comfortable in our own skin because our skin was born out of love.

In my humble opinion, this makes us more free than you ever dreamed of or you can imagine based on personal experience.  While I can't speak for everyone, I am convinced that my words will resonate clearly and loudly with my brothers and sisters who have been marginalized throughout history.

While I agree with Dr. West about the state of our political system and see how the middle class, the poor and the unions are being decimated by greed and power grabs, I can't sit idly by and allow another person to hurl racial slurs against those of us who don't feel the need to choose one side over another, because good, bad, or indifferent, we have accepted all sides as our own.

Yes, WE ARE ENOUGH and have had ENOUGH. Some of us have ties to several cultures and our heritage expands across continents. We come from people who bucked convention and had the backbone to tell the rest of the world to shove it because it was their life and they were not invited to pass judgment.  That, Dr. West, is what free-people looks like.

Our ancestors did not ask for permission, nor did they ask for forgiveness.  They were white men and women who married "people of color" and created the life they wanted for themselves in spite of what free-blacks or free-whites thought.  President Obama's white mother and African father were such people and they owe no one an explanation, neither does their son.

Full disclosure:  I like President Obama but I never, even during his campaign fantasized that once elected he would turn out to be the flaming liberal we hoped would inhabit the Oval Office.  He has always been a middle-of-the-road centrist.  He is personable, likeable and yes, funny.  He also has a penchant for attempting to negotiate with those who oppose him, find a middle ground, compromise and reach an amicable solution.

Even though he is the reasonable adult in the room, for those of us who barely survived the emotional train wreck that was the Bush administration, it has been an infuriating failed attempt after failed attempt at compromise at a time that we wanted decisive results to stop the hemorrhaging of the middle class and the economy.

Also, I have been as guilty as everyone else of wanting immediate relief and results.  We all like immediate gratification, we want the guilty to go to prison and we want laws that work equally for all.  Pipe dreams, I think, because the wealthy don't go to prison and the privatized prisons are filled with minorities that are poor and uneducated.

  • I don't agree with President Obama that we should drill in our country.  I agree with him that we should invest heavily in alternative forms of energy.
  • I don't agree with him that 'clean coal' is a viable alternative because I know first-hand that there is no such thing as the Easter Bunny or clean coal.
  • I do not agree with him on nuclear energy either.  Russia, U.S. and Japan accidents have proven that we don't have enough regulations to keep the industry from cutting corners or keeping them honest.  Nor do we have the ability to render the waste to a neutral state.  It is my opinion that nuclear plants are dangerous. It is President Obama's that they are safe.
I do not agree with President Obama in other areas, but my different opinions do not make him less presidential, less right, or less of anything.

Different views are expected in a society with more than two people and while I don't agree with a few things, I have great respect for a man who was handed a country that was on the verge of collapse and managed to keep it afloat by putting out wildfires that had been fanned and grown out of control by the parties involved in the previous administration and the thugs in the banking industry as well as the Koch Brothers, The Heritage Foundation, Rupert Murdock, Halliburton, and all the others that have had a free reign in pitting Americans against each other to keep us busy and rob us blindly of our assets and our rights.

Well, that's my story. Leave a comment and if you have a friend of mixed heritage background, forward this to them.  They are not alone and they need to know that their thoughts and feelings are shared by millions who remain silent.  No more, we are ENOUGH.

Politicians Gone Wild - Ron Paul

Where to begin? Ron Paul has been around for what seems a painful eternity and resurfaces regularly as a potential presidential candidate that everyone knows will never win.  There are so many different ways we can explore Ron Paul's history that it might serve us well to start at the beginning and work our way to present time.

  • Ron Paul was born 76 years ago in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  • Medical Doctor that served as a surgeon in the Air Force.
  • Ron Paul delivered thousands of babies while in private practice.
  • He entered the political field in 1976.
  • Ron Paul has run for President as both a Libertarian (1988) and Republican (2008 and 2011)
  • He is referred to as "The Grandfather of the Tea Party"
The Good?

Ron Paul's idealistic view of society and government has appeal for those of us who would like to live in a perfect world.  Vitriolic rhetoric about our imperfect governmental structure has made it possible for likely supporters to follow blindly a man that seems to hate government and endorses personal freedoms and liberties using the American Constitution as the backdrop of untested, and doomed to fail, ideology.  Ideology that benefits the few will fail for the many.
  • Insists on term limits for legislators (good?).
  • Voted to authorize George W. Bush to pursue those responsible for the attacks on U.S. soil on September 11, 2001. (good right?)
  • Voted against the Iraq War Resolution. (also good)
  • Voted repeatedly against bills that would expand government functions and programs. (borderline good)
The Bad

Ron Paul wants to abolish everything he can think of.  As an example, he wants to do away with the Department of Education, the IRS and the Federal Reserve.

While everyone has an opinion on how to make these entities function better on behalf of the population, Ron Paul's drastic ideology does not include revising what works and improving what he, and others, view as weaknesses in the system.

The Ugly

It is not hard for many to view Ron Paul as an unabashed racists and homophobic individual.  Newsletters sent out to supporters have the following statements:

"Boy, it sure burns me to have a national holiday for Martin Luther King. I voted against this outrage time and time again as a Congressman. What an infamy that Ronald Reagan approved it! We can thank him for our annual Hate Whitey Day."

"opinion polls consistently show only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions".

"Homosexuals, not to speak of the rest of society, were far better off when social pressure forced them to hide their activities."

"if you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be"

Lew Rockwell has been cited as Ron Paul's ghost writer by sources, but he denies writing the newsletters and Ron Paul insists that he is not a racist without addressing why these newsletters were written in the first person or in the first place. Why would Ron Paul approve such literature to be sent out and never issue statements denouncing their contents at the time they were issued?  As a matter of fact, the first time he ran for president, both Ron Paul and his staff defended the newsletters and in subsequent runs he has chosen to be defensive or dismissive of something that happened "A long time ago".

Those reactions are neither an explanation, nor an apology.  It is also not a denial of his core sentiments.

For a man who has seen what it takes for a woman to take a pregnancy to full term and attended, by his account, 4,000 births, this man's voting record and opinions leads to the conclusion that if he does not hate women, he certainly comes close to it.

Ron Paul introduced H.R. 1094 stating that human life begins at conception and "...Recognizes that each state has authority to protect the lives of unborn children residing in the jurisdiction of that state."
Libertarian? not for women.

He has voted to defund Planned Parenthood. As an Obstetritian he KNOWS for a large number of women, this is the only place where they can get routine medical exams that include cancer screenings and prevention.  While Planned Parenthood is not free, it is a more affordable option for women whose medical insurance won't cover necessary screenings.

He KNOWS that for many women, Planned Parenthood is the only place they can get a mammogram or pap smear without having to sacrifice on basic necessities for their families and keep as healthy as possible while continuing to struggle with diminishing wages and increasing costs.

Maybe delivering 4,000 babies has made him realize that once they are born they can be a pain in the ass.  It is the only logical explanation for preventing unwanted children from being adopted by loving parents.  It is best if they rot in foster care and are deprived of a nurturing home in which they can thrive and grow to be independent thinkers. (Maybe that is the root of the problem).  Gay parents, need not apply.

Keep in mind that Ron Paul also believes that being  born in the United States should not automatically make you a US citizen.  Just in case you are of Hispanic descent and feel that you are just as American as everyone else.  Get it through your head Sanchez, Ramos and Hernandez.... you are not as American as Ron Paul.

This (un)constitutionalist know-it-all introduced a bill in 2005 that would deny citizenship to any child born in the United States whose parents are not citizens. (H.J. Res 46). Fortunately, only four other Republicans were stupid enough to go along with him.

Gay Rights

Ron Paul has a problem with 'the gays'.  He can't imagine that 'they' are human beings entitled to have the same "Libertarian" rights he spouts. (unless of course, you are a woman, black or hispanic).
  • He cosponsored The Marriage Protection Act.
  • He would not vote to abolish 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'.
  • Ron Paul is against gay adoption.
Ron Paul is against gays. Period.

Ron Paul is adamant about personal responsibility - Unless it is our country and you are an oil company. In this case, you must drill freely, without being held accountable for toxic spills or poisoning human beings.  He also believes that National parks are made to be exploited and polluted.  Oil companies should not have to pay royalties and as a physician... he has an abysmal record on environmental issues based on science.

CONSTITUTION - One would expect a constitutional purist like Ron Paul would defend to his death 'separation of church and state', but the opposite is true.  Ron Paul knows that liberals can't be trusted. You see, they READ. So he introduced H.R.4379 to circumvent pesky democrats having separation of church and state cases heard in federal courts.  Hypocritical? You decide.

SOCIAL SECURITY - Liar, liar, pants on fire - Ron Paul continues to spew that social security is broke when we all know that Social Security is solvent and with proposed changes to negotiate with vendors as a volume purchaser of durable medical goods, fraud and excessive payments will be eliminated.  It would only strengthen a program that is already solid as a rock.

Ron Paul wants social security terminated.

He calls it unconstitutional and blames liberals for this type of  'welfare'.  Someone should explain that Social Security is an insurance program we, Americans, pay into it during our working and most productive years, in order to have a cushion of financial stability in our 'golden years'.  It does not take a genius to figure out how much those monthly INSURANCE checks help our grandparents and assists them in remaining independent in their later years.

Is that not what insurance is for? Is that not the result a libertarian would expect from those who have planned for their retirement without being a financial burden to society?  Even Mike Wallace could not get this through this man's head.  Mike Wallace, of all people!

  • Hates government but has spent over 3 decades in it and won't give it up.
  • Spouses personal liberties unless they are applied to women, gays, blacks, or Hispanics.
  • He is a strict constitutionalist unless it clashes with his agenda and must introduce bills to counteract that pesky Constitution.
  • Ron Paul believes government has no place in people's lives, unless you are a people of the female variety, in which case your uterus must be regulated.  As a gynecologist, he must feel entitled to do so.
@APBBlue Hey Ron Paul: You talk and talk about "property rights." Well guess what: My uterus, my property. Butt out.
  • He hates workers of all stripes and voted to decrease standards in the mining industry.  (We all know how safely they do their jobs now and how much better it will get with less regulations, right?). He voted to defund OSHA in 2001 because apparently, workers are 'safe enough'.
  • As a Constitutionalist, Ron Paul does not know Jack. Privatization is the name of the game and if the oil companies could own the entire country and drill into your backyard, Ron Paul would claim the constitution guaranteed them the right to do so.
  • A Libertarian, he is not. Personal liberties only apply by dictatorial decree to the selected few, for everyone else, there is a loop hole or new amendment to be introduced to make it constitutionally impossible for the "wrong people" to have equal rights.
Ron Paul is not a constitutionalist, he is an opportunist.  He will continue to profit from being a GOVERNMENT employee and being in the limelight as a power-hungry old man whose time, like dead fish and bad company, has come to an end.

Unfortunately Ron Paul spawned 'Aqua Buddha' and he deserves his own page on this blog.  After all, what would Rand Paul be without Ron Paul? - While the fruit does not fall far from the tree, this particular fruit seems to be a bit nuttier and bit greener, but worth exploring just the same.

Thank Goodness for Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, and in general, thinking people.  We are the last line of defense against these type of demagogues who feel entitled to pass judgment and assert their will where it is not wanted or Constitutional.

Politicians Gone Wild - Newt Gingrich

Chances are that if you are reading this, you are one of those bleeding-heart-elitist-progressive-socialist-kenyan lover-democrats and reading is something you do well.  I hope you'll take the time to leave a message and add to the conversation - PEACE, Olivia.

Newt Gingrich

It is not news that there is hypocrisy in politics.  We are all aware of those who spout 'family values' as a way to be elected into office by the masses who want to believe an elected official mirrors their values and values their lifestyle.  Sadly, we all come to the realization that it is just a mirror with a lot of smoke to create the illusion of what we want to perceive and desperately want to elect.

We have to give him kudos for thinking outside the box and appealing to the working masses under the guise of 'too much work' and 'loving my country' as the main reason for leaving wife #1 for one of his mistresses.  Too much work accounts for divorcing said mistress while bed-ridden in the hospital undergoing treatment and marrying one of his mistresses.

All the work as Speaker of the House made him do it.  It had nothing to do with power, ego, lack of self-control, fake moral values or self-indulgence.  His 'love of country' propelled him to launch an investigation to impeach former President Clinton for having an extra-marital affair while Newt Gingrich
continued to indulge in his.

Here is a video from MSNBC with Stephanie Miller and Newt's Gingrich explanation about his patriotism gone wild.

If being Speaker of the House is such a burden that propels men to callously cheat on their wives, what is the Presidency going to do to this man? Would he feel the need to have Hugh Hefner as Vice-President just to ensure a steady supply of young, blonde and easily accessible females that are old enough to be his grand or great-granddaughters?
  • We already know he is an adulterer but how many people knew he was 19 years old when he married 26 year old Jackie Battley, his geometry teacher?
  •  Newt Gingrich dumped Jackie Battley for Marianne Ginther, who subsequently was dumped in favor of his current wife, and hopeful first lady, Callista Bisek.
  • There is controversy about the cancer story. Ms. Battley claims she was in the hospital battling cancer when Newt showed up with divorce papers. Newt claims he was there to talk about visiting the kids and one of their daughters stating that it was their mother who wanted the divorce.
While the details on the cancer issue are as clear as mud, the fact remains that Mr. Gingrich was unable to keep marriage vows or maintain those 'family values' that are so appealing to voters and he, as a conservative republican, has worn as a badge of honor to contrast the lack of family values supposedly inherent in democrats.
